Business Manager

Department: Business Management
Location: Nashville, TN

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Business Manager is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the clients, including the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve client’s assets and report accurate financial results. position requires a highly motivated self-starter who possesses strong initiative and the ability to complete multiple projects in a deadline driven environment. He or she needs the ability to communicate effectively with internal and contacts to solicit support to complete tasks. Critical outcomes include supporting the executive team with key financial information and operational analytics, and driving a culture of accountability in managing the business, adding value to operating businesses and voicing well-substantiated dissenting opinions.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Planning

  • Assist in formulating the Client’s future direction and supporting tactical initiatives.
  • Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans and develop financial and tax strategies.
  • Manage the capital request and budgeting processes.
  • Develop performance measures that support the Client’s strategic direction.

Operations

  • Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team.
  • Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team.
  • Manage the accounting and business management team.
  • Oversee the financial operations of Client Companies.
  • Manage third parties to which functions have been outsourced (payroll, systems, banking).
  • Implement operational best business practices.

Reporting

  • Ensure the issuance of financial reporting packages (annual, quarterly, monthly and weekly deliverables).
  • Oversee the establishment of ad hoc financial modeling as needed and production of budgets and forecasts.
  • Establish financial and operating metrics to measure performance.

Compliance

  • Reviews the schedule of all filings and reported information, providing accountability for accuracy and timeliness.

Risk Management

  • Understand and mitigate key elements of the Client’s risk profile.
  • Monitor all open legal issues involving the Client and legal issues affecting the industry.
  • Ensure appropriate and reliable control systems are in place.
  • Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies.
  • Monitor cash projections and forecasts and arrange for debt and equity financing.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS in Business Administration, specifically Accounting, Finance, Economics, with strong academic record.
  • 10+ years of progressive public accounting, business management, and/or entertainment experience.
  • 5+ years in specifically entertainment industry,
  • CPA, CFP, or CMA required.
  • Must have experience in partnering with an executive team and have high level written and oral communication skills.
