Position Overview:

This Controller position requires a detail-oriented, results-driven individual and analysis for high-level accounting operations of the company. He/she must provide financial statement review, cash flow planning, as well as, budgeting & forecasting. Also, he/she must be able to create and enforce internal controls.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


· Oversee month-end close process, including a detail review of monthly financial statements

· Cash account reconciliation, Accounts receivable collection and reconciliation

· Reconciliation of supporting schedule of other receivables, prepaid expenses, and other assets

· Maintenance of the fixed asset schedule

· Inventory costing processes and application

· Analysis of inventory valuation:

§ Tax handling of any obsolete inventory

§ Markdown allowance calculation

§ Inventory counts and reconciliation to Cost of Goods Sold

· Accounts payable oversight including weekly invoice approvals and proper account and budgetary coding

· Generate and maintain the chart of account templates and develop new templates as needed

· Maintain a system of control over accounting procedures for compliance


· Review financial statements and supporting documents for accuracy and completeness

· Ensure the issuance of financial reporting packages (annual, quarterly, monthly, and weekly deliverables)

· Establish ad hoc financial projects & reporting as needed

· Establish financial and operating metrics to measure performance

· Manage the production of budgets & forecasts

· Establish report standardization and automation best business practices

· Provide recommendations to executive team based on results of analysis

· Recommend benchmarks which to measure the performance of company operations


· Provide monthly and quarterly financials to outside CFO / Financial Advisor

· Oversee the operational & reporting functions of the business management department (time and project management)

· Oversee the control systems for the firm for reporting & compliance

· Create and maintain accounting policies and procedures

· Review outsourced functions, contracts and deliverables

· Banking control including bank agreement negotiations

· Maintain vendor relationships

o Act as liaison between The Giving Keys staff and any trusted advisors to communicate information effectively and efficiently

o Work closely with CPA firm on year-end preparation, corporate tax returns and other filings.

· Oversee annual budget process
